Perhaps Cleveland escaped, unbeknownst to herself, a remaking of downtown and the Flats that would have tore asunder the very heart of Cleveland’s soul. Read “New Improved Brooklyn” in the current issue of New York Magazine (May 3, 2004, p. 28 f.) that talks about what Bruce Rathner and Forest City along with the Department of city Planning are doing to the heart and soul of Brooklyn.
